Autism (S.P.E.L.L)

Learn all about this complex condition with our specialist Autism (S.P.E.L.L.) course, designed to improve trainee confidence, skills and knowledge when supporting individuals living with Autism. Trainees will learn about the diagnostic criteria and presentations of Autism, how Autism can be supported and managed, and how care environments can be made more inclusive using the S.P.E.L.L. framework.

  • To explore the history, epistemology and diagnostic criteria for Autism.

  • To understand the definition, presentations and misconceptions of Autism.

  • To appreciate the social, physical and mental impact of living with Autism.

  • To improve awareness about the presentations and clinical features of Autism.

  • To recognise the adaptations, strategies and care plans that can be implemented to best support individuals living with Autism.

  • To identify the specific physical and/or mental health needs that might be required by individuals living with Autism.

  • To provide more inclusive care environments via the S.P.E.L.L. framework.

6 hours teaching (7 Hour day to include breaks).
