Food Hygiene

(Level 1 or 2 )

Any workplace that handles or serves food is legally required to comply with food hygiene standards. To ensure that all our participants are following their legal obligations, this course is designed to give them all the skills and knowledge needed to practice and maintain food hygiene in their working environment.

Available as either Level 1 or Level 2 training.

  • To learn about the legislation, policies and guidelines governing food hygiene in the workplace.

  • To understand the impact of non-compliance with food hygiene standards, including food poisoning and outbreak of infection.

  • To identify high-risk foods, areas and behaviours for food hygiene.

  • To learn about available PPE for food handling and preparation, including its function, how to properly use it and how to safely dispose of it.

  • To recognise how to transport, prepare and store food to maintain food hygiene standards.

  • To conduct and record effective, legally defensible food risk assessments.

  • To identify available methods and resources that can maintain effective hygiene standards of kitchen areas, cooking techniques and equipment.


  • To consider how food hygiene standards can be effectively implemented in the participant’s current workplace.
